Terry Fox Ravens runner Adeyami Taylor-Lewis took home a couple of medals during the B.C. High School Track and Field Meet on the weekend, but missed a first place showing in the 100 m senior boys dash by 0.07 seconds.

The PoCo athlete qualified at the top of his heat when he ran an 11.21, well ahead of second place finisher Giovanni Trasolini of St. Thomas More secondary, who finished with an 11.37.

But Taylor-Lewis could not take the gold medal in the finals where he bested his qualifying time of 11.15, behind first place finisher Saeed Shokoya of St. Michaels secondary, who finished with 11.08.

However, the day was only beginning for the Ravens runner, who also posted a second-place finish in the 200 m dash, after qualifying with a 22.63 time. He ended up taking the silver medal in the finals, where he posted a time of 22.29.

On the girls side, Dr. Charles Best secondary Blue Devils runner Addy Townsend qualified for the championship race by topping her heat with a run time of 4:51.67 in the 1,500 m senior girls run.

However, South Kamloops Titan Kayla Stone took gold in the finals, with a blistering 4:28.95, 10 seconds faster than Townsend's second-place finish.

Alex Siemens of W.J. Mouat secondary finished third with a time of 4:38.71.

In the girls 400 m dash, Picabo Reeves, another Charles Best secondary athlete, qualified in the preliminaries with a 58.78, eventually coming in eighth place with a 1:00.6 in the finals.

Nathan Wadhwani, a long-distance runner for Terry Fox, posted a n8:35.91 time in the 3,000 m run, good enough for a trip to the podium and a silver medal.

Wadhani had struggled in the 1,500 m senior boys run earlier in the day, where he finished in ninth place. His brother, Isaac, also competed in the 1,500 m, posting an 11th place finish.

Hundreds of athletes turned out from across the province to the B.C. Provincial Track and Field Meet on Saturday in Langley. The annual event gives athletes the chance to compete against other schools from other regions.
