Sr. A's look to next season

For the first time in 15 years the Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs will not be going to the post-season.

For the first time in 15 years the Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs will not be going to the post-season.

The Western Lacrosse Association squad wrapped up the season with a 12-8 victory in a mean-nothing game against the Langley Thunder, a team that ended the A's playoff hopes last week.

But despite the A's 7-11 record general manager Les Wingrove said he does not believe the club needs to go into a rebuilding year next season.

"It is not like we have to blow this thing up," he said. "If we had won last Wednesday we would have been in third place."

In the off-season the club will look to do some recruiting and Wingrove said a few trades could also take place.

But the biggest chance the club has to improve itself could be at this year's WLA draft, where Coquitlam has the first overall pick and the first and second pick of the second round.

"We want to get better," Wingrove said. "And we have some pretty good draft picks to get better with."

There were some bright spots for the Adanacs this year. The team's efforts to shore up its defence helped the squad achieve one of the lowest goals-against averages in the league.

However, the team only scored 160 goals this season, the lowest number in the league.
