Port Coquitlam's Archbishop Carney Stars will take home a second-place banner after coming up short in the final game of the B.C. AA high school soccer championship on Wednesday.
The game came down to a shootout, after being knotted at one goal a side for most of regulation, when the Okanagan-Mission Huskies scored the game winner at the Burnaby Lake West Sports Complex.
Both teams were undefeated going into the final match of the season and the tightly played, back-and-forth game saw excellent goaltending on both sides of the pitch.
Carney dominated the tournament in round-robin play. The club started the week with with a 5-0 win over D.P. Todd secondary and a 2-0 win over Gulf Islands secondary.
In the playoffs the Stars continued to rack up wins, taking down Summerland 1-0 in the quarterfinals and Cariboo Hill in the semifinals. The semifinal match came down to one goal with time running out Tuesday afternoon, the only goal that Cariboo keeper Juggi Dosangh allowed in five games.
Carney's Michael North was one of seven players to receive the tournament's Golden Boot award, the one Star to receive individual player recognition.
Tournament MVP went to Okanagan-Mission's MacKenzie Rigg, while top goalkeeper went to Dosanjh.
