Stroup takes reins for Team BC

Port Coquitlam's Dan Stroup will guide the Team BC women's field lacrosse program for 2014.

As a former Western Lacrosse Association, National Lacrosse League and Canadian national box and field lacrosse star, Stroup has made significant strides in utilizing his knowledge, skills and abilities as a player and translating those abilities into becoming a leader in coaching women's field lacrosse.

This is the third season Stroup has coached with the Team BC women's program. Stroup coached the U19 women's field team to a national title at the 2013 U19 Women's Field Lacrosse National Invitational tournament in Oshawa, Ont. In November, he was the head coach of Team BC that posted a 4-0-1 record at the IWCLA President's Cup Recruiting Showcase in Orlando, Fla. Stroup's squad competed this month at the Sandstorm Lacrosse Tournament in Indio, Calif. and finished with a 6-1 record.

Team BC Lacrosse is a high performance lacrosse program for box and field Lacrosse athletes within the province. The Team BC women's field lacrosse program will include three teams - Team BC Senior (Grades 11 & 12), Team BC Sophomore (Grade 10) and Team BC Freshman (Grades 8 & 9). Teams will train and compete at tournaments in Florida and California.

Stroup will also be the Team BC head coach for the female midget box lacrosse squad.

The other Team BC box lacrosse head coaches will be: Curt Malawsky of Maple Ridge will coach midget; Coquitlam's Darren Fridge will coach peewee; Rich Catton of New Westminster will coach bantam; and Pitt Meadows' Chris Gill will coach female bantam.
