TC athletes medal at track & field nationals

Tri-City athletes climbed the podium in several events at last week’s Canadian Track and Field Championships, held in Montreal. Port Coquitlam’s Kaila Butler finished second in the women’s hammer throw. Her best toss was 63.60 metres.

Port Coquitlam javelin thrower Jarrett Chong finished third in his U20 event at the Canadian Track and Field championships in Montreal last weekend.

Tri-City athletes climbed the podium in several events at last week’s Canadian Track and Field Championships, held in Montreal.

Port Coquitlam’s Kaila Butler finished second in the women’s hammer throw. Her best toss was 63.60 metres. Chanell Botsis, of Coqutilam, finished third with a throw of 61.53 metres.

Port Coquitlam’s Brittni Wolczyk finished third in the women’s javelin, with a throw of 48.08 metres.

Jerome Blake, a sprinter who trains with the Coquitlam Cheetahs, finished third in the senior men’s 200m race, and fourth in the 100m.

In junior competition, long jumper Jasmine Lew placed second amongst U20 women in her event. She leaped 5.78 metres, short of her personal best of 6.17 metres.

Port Coqutilam’s Jarrett Chong threw his javelin 64.88 metres to finish third in his U20 event, while Jv Patry-Smith was fifth in the women’s U20 javelin.
