Friday, the Ravens and Hyacks will play each other, 7:30 p.m. at Mercer Stadium in New Westminster, to stay alive in the BC Secondary Schools Football Association playoffs.

Terry Fox assured itself of at least another week of football as a wild card entrant to the post season by defeating crosstown rival Centennial Centaurs, 29-7, in the annual Coquitlam Cup Friday at Percy Perry Stadium. It was the Ravens’ second win of the season, while Centennial failed to win a game in seven starts.

The Centaurs actually held a 7-6 lead in the first quarter after spotting the Ravens an early 6-0 advantage on a pair of field goals by Kyle Huish. But that’s as good as it got for Centennial, which gave up 23 unanswered points, many of them sparked by six interceptions.

Terry Fox quarterback Matthew Lew Henriksen completed nine of 13 passes for 92 yards, while running backs Ethan Elliott, Ethan Shuen and Al Malcic rumbled for more than 150 yards on the ground. Malcic also counted six tackles, as well as an interception, on defence.

The junior varisty teams of both Centennial and Terry Fox will play in the post season.

The Centaurs meet Carson Graham secondary on Thursday, 1:30 p.m, at Burnaby Lake, while the Ravens travel to Kelowna for a payoff game Saturday at 1:30 p.m..

Centennial finished its regular season on a winning note with a 14-12 victory over Fox last Thursday at Percy Perry Stadium.
