Thai golfer to spice up field at CN Canadian Women's Open

Ariya Jutanugarn of Bangkok, Thailand beat her runner-up sister, Moriya, by five strokes to claim the 99th Royale Cup Canadian women's amateur championship in Lethbridge, Alta. and thus received an exemption into the CN Canadian Women's Open at Coquitlam's Vancouver Golf Club, Aug. 20-26.

After leading the first three rounds of the Cup, Jutanugarn scored a one-over-par 73 on the final day to end up with a blistering 14-under 274.

Moriya Jutanugarn was next in the 78-shooter field with a nine-under 279.

"It's my first time here and I really enjoyed playing in Canada," the winner Jutanugarn said.

Coquitlam's Jisoo Keel, 16, was second through three rounds but faltered on the final day with 82 to finish with a five-over 293 and tied for 17th spot. Keel has already qualified for the Canadian Open.

PoCo product SooBin Kim, 18, fired a final-round 70 to end up deadlocked in 10th with an even-par 288.
