The Christmas wrap has been deposited in the recycling bin, the sumptuous turkey dinner is now leftovers, so that can only mean one thing: it’s hockey tournament time.
All three minor hockey associations in the Tri-Cities are hosting hockey tournaments through Sunday:
• Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey’s 32nd annual Winter Classic features Atom C, PeeWee C and Bantam C teams from around Metro Vancouver. it runs at the PoCo Rec Complex until Dec. 30.
• Coquitlam Minor Hockey is hosting its Candy Cane tournament for hockey’s youngest players, at the Initiation and Novice levels. It’s also on until the 30th at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex and at Planet Ice.
• Port Moody’s Atom Holiday Classic features some top teams from as far away at Seattle. The tournament goes until Dec. 30, at the Port Moody Arena.
• After the calendar changes to the new year, Coquitlam Minor Hockey will hold its annual Midget A New Year’s tournament from Jan. 2 to 5, and the Richard Young Memorial Midget C tournament from Jan. 3 to 6.
