Tri-City swimmers make their mark at provincials

Hau-Li Fan of the Coquitlam Sharks won the O category for the 200-metre individual medley, 100-m butterfly, 100-m breaststroke and 100-m backstroke, while the Port Coquitlam Marlins Adam Ben-Jafaar won the O category in the 50-m butterfly, 50-m freestyle and 100-m freestyle and placed second in the 100-m IM.

The Marlins Andy Cho won both the 100-m IM and 50-m butterfly for division two boys, with Coquitlam's Louis Yang finishing third in both events. Cho also took second in both the 50-m breaststroke and 100-m freestyle.

Port Coquitlam's Brian Jung won division four boys in the 200-m IM and 100-m backstroke, also placing second in the 100-m freestyle and 50-m butterfly. The Sharks Saira Purhar won the 100-m breaststroke for division five girls, took second in the 200-m IM, third in the 100-m butterfly and fourth in the 100-m freestyle.

Mitchell Kilmaster of Coquitlam won the 50-m butterfly for division six boys, placed second in the 50-m freestyle and third in both the 100-m butterfly and 100-m backstroke, while Shawn Sieb of Port Coquitlam was fourth in division five boys in the 50-m freestyle, 100-m freestyle and 100-m butterfly.

Lindsey Cauley of Port Coquitlam won both the 50-m and 100-m freestyle for division six girls, with the Marlins Taylor Clark fourth in the 50-m freestyle. Coquitlam's Jamie Engman took second in the 100-m butterfly and third in the 50-m butterfly.

Alexandria Schofield of Port Moody finished first in the 100-m freestyle, second in the 50-m butterfly and third in the 100-m backstroke for division eight girls. Coquitlam's Chase Addison won the 100-m breaststroke for division five boys, while the Marlins Shelby Connelly snared a second-place finish in the 50-m freestyle for division two girls.

Port Coquitlam's Noah Ben-Jafaar came in third in the O category 50-m backstroke and 50-m breaststroke and fourth in the 50-m freestyle, while Port Coquitlam's Alyssa O'Connor finished fourth in the 200-m IM and 100-m breaststroke for division six girls.

Coquitlam's Haley Bredin was second in the 50-m backstroke, third in the 100-m IM and fourth in the 50-m butterfly and 100-m freestyle, with the Sharks Charlene Hew claiming second in the 100-m breaststroke for division seven girls and third in the 50-m freestyle.

Cassidy Gray of Coquitlam took third in the 100-m freestyle for division one girls, while teammate Whitley Sheehan finished second in the 100-m breaststroke and fourth in the 200-m IM for division eight girls. Port Coquitlam's Ryan Cho was third in the 100-m breaststroke for division six boys.

Alex Woinoski of the Marlins took second in division four of the 100-m backstroke with teammate Justin Kim fourth. Coquitlam's Nicole Sue snagged second in the O category of the 50-m butterfly and fourth in the 100-m freestyle, while Coquitlam's Julia Seol was fourth in the 100-m backstroke for division five girls.

Port Coquitlam's Gracie Lorenson was third in 50-m breaststroke for division two girls, while William Truong of Coquitlam took fourth in the O category of the 100-m breaststroke.
