Rachel Macphail also got in on the scoring action, converting on a low cross to bury the ball from about 10-yards away from the net.

Cats keeper Claire Ayling played well behind a solid defence, keeping the Elite from scoring in the 3-0 Coquitlam win.

ON THE EDGE

Two games into the season and opposing forwards have yet to find a way to solve Coquitlam Edge net minder Angela Webster.

On Sunday, the goalie was able to post her second straight clean sheet, when the Edge downed the Port Moody Quicksilver 3-0 in U17 division 2 girls' soccer action.

Coquitlam jumped out to an early lead when Justyna Pomaleck's solo run resulted in a penalty, which she calmly finished with a shot to the low post.

Samantha Dougherty added a pair of quick shots that left the PoMo keeper defenseless and staked the Edge to a 3-0 halftime lead.

Despite a spirited Port Moody push in the second half, Coquitlam was able to shut down the Quicksilver's attack and hang on for the shutout victory.

SEEING REDCAPS

The Coquitlam RedCaps came away with one point during a stesty battle against SFC Pegasus in U16 division 1 boys' soccer on Sunday.

Anton Pisaryk scored the lone goal for Coquitlam in the 1-1 tie, during a match that saw the RedCaps stand up to a larger, more physical club.

Tony Blazevic had a strong match on defence and with the help of keeper Alex Brown were able to hold the opposition to just one goal.

BOOM GOES THE TNT

After coming off a disappointing loss in the opening game of the season, the Coqutilam TNT came out determined to win on Sunday against the Burnaby Storm in U15 girls soccer.

The patient Coquitlam club played hard in a first half that saw a lot of end-to-end action and several good chances for both sides.

However, it was TNT forward Kirstin Davies who broke the log jam, scoring 15 minutes into the second half with a shot outside the box.

After that, it was the defence that came up strong for Coquitlam, with Nicole Chursinoff, Isabel Antunes, Olivia Dawson and goalie Alivia Ungaro keeping Burnaby off the scoreboard.
