Michell Francis fired in two goals as Coquitlam Metro-Ford Synergy secured a 4-3 victory Sunday over Burnaby's Cliff Avenue United in a women's Under-21 soccer battle at Bryne Creek field.

Francis staked Synergy to a 2-0 margin but Cliff Avenue came back to knot the count 2-2 early in the second half. Synergy's Hillary Ferguson gave the visitors a 3-2 lead and Kayla Mobilio upped the margin to 4-2 before Cliff Avenue struck late to close out the scoring.

Synergy midfielder Shyan Cutless was among the standouts for the victors.

Sophie Dhami's free-kick strike from 22 yards out midway through the second half gave Coquitlam Metro-Ford tNt a 2-1 triumph over the Tsawwassen Blues in girls U-13 Gold action Sunday. Dhami, with help from co-midfielder Elle Cummings, scored the game's opening goal when she stole the ball off a Tsawwassen defender and launched an 18-yard drive into the top corner.

After Tsawwassen evened the score 1-1, tNt goalie Alivia Ungaro made some key stops to keep the possibility of a CMF win alive.

The tNt backline of Samantha Pedroso, Mikaella de los Reyes and Nicole Chursinoff was strong down the stretch.

PORT MOODY

Tia Edgar collected a pair of goals to rally the Port Moody Nitro to a 4-1 win over Sunshine Coast United in a girls U-17 Gold game Sunday.

Julia Basa was among Nitro's other goal-getters, while Mercedes Hamilton was a standout at her midfield spot.
