The Terry Fox Ravens have secured first place in the AAA high school football eastern conference after taking down the No. 3 ranked St. Thomas More secondary Knights last Friday.
The score was close early on in the bout but it didn't take long for the Port Coquitlam team, which has put up the second highest number of points in the league so far this season, to take control of the match.
Touchdowns from Mike West put the game out of reach in the third quarter for the Knights, who ended up losing 38-15, the Burnaby school's first loss of the regular season.
With the win, Fox is now 4-0.
Meanwhile, the Centennial Centaurs are struggling, currently setting in second to last place.
The Coquitlam club's latest loss came at the hands of Lord Tweedsmuir, who defeated the Cents at home 20-0.
JV CENTAURS
The Centennial Centaurs Jr. Varsity football team extended its winning streak last with a 17-0 win over the Frank Hurt secondary Hornets last weekend.
Moe Hassan rushed for 112 yards during the game, while Cents quarterback Max Kennedy threw for over 159 yards and completed to touchdown passes to Nic Greene and Mac Stephens. Green caught the pass for a 56-yard gain, while Stephens had over 105 total yards of offensive production.
Ryoyu Inoue also added a few points when he kicked a 25-yard filed goal late in the game.
Centennial was also dominant on the defensive side of the ball.
Although the club was missing Leon Hanelt, Malcolm Taiwo, and Johey Patterson to injury, players like Jakob Scriver, Joe Bianchi and Arif Ansari were ready to step up and rookies Elijah Uema-Martin, Hunter MacMurchy and Uriah Hestdalen also made big contributions.
The Hornets could not find the end zone, with Greene, Stephens and Keon Fuoco all grabbing interceptions, while Scriver had 11 tackles.
The win improves Centennials Jr. Centaurs to 5-0 this season.
