The Coquitlam Express moved to within one point of first place in the BCHL's Mainland Division after winning three games in a row over the weekend.
The wins set the stage for Friday's game at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre, which will be a first-place showdown against the Langley Rivermen, who are third overall in the league.
Coquitlam's offence has been on fire as of late and the club now leads the league in scoring with 50 goals, six ahead of West Kelowna.
Express fans were treated to a solid win on Friday at home, in a match that saw both Corey Mackin and Ryan Rosenthal score a pair in a 5-2 win against the Chilliwack Chiefs.
Coquitlam again had the upper hand over the Chiefs on Saturday on the road.
Canon Pieper scored two in the first period on the way to a hat trick and the Express chased starting Chilliwack net minder Josh Halpenny, who stopped 13 of 17 shots he faced.
Lyndon Stanwood did not fair much better in relief, allowing five goals on the 25 shots Coquitlam threw at him in the remaining 27 minutes of the game. The final score on Saturday was 9-4.
The Express rounded out the weekend with a 5-1 win over the Surrey Eagles on Sunday at the South Surrey Arena.
Langley will be in town on Friday with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. For more information go to www.coquitlamexpress.ca.
