X-men trio big on BCHL all-star squad

Three Coquitlam Express players have been chosen to the B.C. Hockey League's Coastal Conference first all-star team, it was announced Tuesday.

Three Coquitlam Express players have been chosen to the B.C. Hockey League's Coastal Conference first all-star team, it was announced Tuesday.

Forwards Alex Petan and Alexander Kerfoot, along with defenceman Clinton Atkinson, were all chosen to the select squad.

Petan led the Express in regular-season scoring with 88 points, including 38 goals, in 55 games, good for a tie for fifth in the BCHL. Kerfoot was third on the squad with 69 points in 51 games, while Atkinson was fifth among Express point-getters with 59 in 60 outings.

Meanwhile, the fourth-place Express open the first-round best-of-seven playoffs tomorrow (Friday) in Powell River against the first-place Kings, whom they finished seven points behind but won the season series with a 6-1-1 mark.

Game 2 goes Saturday again in Powell River, with Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Tuesday respectively at the Poirier Sports Complex. Home game starts for the Express are 7 p.m.
