YELLOWKNIFE — All adults in Yellowknife can now book an appointment to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

Yellowknife is the last community in the Northwest Territories to make vaccinations available to eligible adults.

N.W.T. Health Minister Julie Green says that as of Saturday half of all eligible adults in the territory have been vaccinated.

Green also says the territory is on track to vaccinate 75 per cent of its adult population by the end of March.

Premier Caroline Cochrane says although March is a popular time for residents to travel, non-essential travel should still be avoided.

To date, more than 17,000 residents in the territory have received one dose of the Moderna vaccine and over 11,000 have received their second dose.
