CALGARY — Cavalry FC has signed French-born Canadian defender Bradley Kamdem to a multi-year deal.

The 28-year-old played most recently for Malta Premier League side Valletta FC, making 22 appearances across all competitions.

"Bradley is a brilliant addition to our squad. He is a very intelligent defender, with a lovely left foot and outstanding athleticism," Tommy Wheeldon Jr., Cavalry's head coach and GM, said in a statement. "He has an infectious personality, which his teammates and supporters will quickly grow to appreciate.

"I’m delighted we could bring him home to Calgary after a very good professional career and myself and our staff look forward to working with him once again.”

Born in Paris to Cameroonian parents, Kamdem and his family moved to Calgary at an early age. He played his youth soccer playing for the Calgary Chinooks before attending Huntington University and the University of Nevada.

In 2015, Kamdem returned to Alberta to join Calgary Foothills FC of USL League Two. A year later, he was taken in the third round (58th overall) of the MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids, but ended up signing with the USL's Rochester Rhinos.

He went on to play in the USL for Fresno FC, Saint Louis FC and Atlanta United 2.

Cavalry (0-0-2) hosts Valour FC (1-0-1) in its home opener Sunday at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows.
