DALLAS — Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele will play in Game 6 tonight against the Dallas Stars.

The team says Scheifele's father, Brad Scheifele, died overnight.

Head coach Scott Arniel says Scheifele told him that his father would have wanted him to play, so that's what he plans to do.

The Jets were told the news before the morning skate at American Airlines Center. Scheifele remained at the team's hotel.

Winnipeg needs a victory to force a deciding game in the second-round NHL playoff series.

Scheifele, walking beside defenceman Josh Morrissey, arrived with his teammates at the arena a few hours before the start of the game.
