OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators and centre Mark Kastelic have agreed on a two-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.
The deal, which carries an average annual value of US$835,000, will pay the 23-year-old $800,000 in 2023-24 and $870,000 in 2024-25.
In his third professional season, Kastelic had two goals in six games with Ottawa in 2022-23 heading into Thursday's contest against the Minnesota Wild.
In 22 career NHL games, the six-foot-three, 233-pound Phoenix native has registered six points and 19 penalty minutes.
Selected 125th overall by the Senators at the 2019 NHL draft, Kastelic put up 18 goals and 20 assists to go along with 105 penalty minutes over 95 career American Hockey League games with the Belleville Senators.
"Mark has worked tirelessly to earn all that has come his way since being a late-round draft pick," Ottawa general manager Pierre Dorion said in a release.
"He's reliable, competitive, takes exceptional pride in his conditioning and routinely showcases a willingness to take on any challenge."
