WHL Roundup: Pats score three unanswered to defeat Wheat Kings 3-1

BRANDON, Man. — Alexander Suzdalev scored two of three unanswered goals as the Regina Pats defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 on Wednesday night. Ben Thornton opened the scoring to put Brandon (1-1-1) up just a few minutes into the first period.

Ben Thornton opened the scoring to put Brandon (1-1-1) up just a few minutes into the first period. From there, it all went downhill for the Wheat Kings.

Suzdalev scored 11 minutes later to tie the game up. In the second, Tanner Howe gave the Pats (3-3-0) their first lead. And 15:25 into the third, Suzdalev sealed the deal with another goal.

Connor Bedard recorded two assists on the night and Matthew Kieper stopped 51-of-52 shots in the victory. Carson Bjarnason made 24 saves in a losing effort for Brandon.

PRINCE ALBERT, SASK. — Tikhon Chaika stopped all 29 shots he faced in a shutout effort as Prince Albert beat Lethbridge (2-2-0). Carson Latimer, Keaton Sorensen and Landon Kosior all scored for the Raiders (2-3-1).

MOOSE JAW, SASK. — Connor Ungar made an impressive 40 saves to lead Moose Jaw (3-2-0) in its victory over Saskatoon (3-2-0). Atley Calvert, Tate Schofer and Jagger Firkus scored for the Warriors while Conner Roulette netted the Blades' lone goal.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Adam Kydd recorded a goal and an assist, Jari Kykkanen stopped all 20 shots he faced and Kelowna (1-1-1) defeated Victoria (0-5-0) for its first win of the season. Marcus Pacheco and Caden Price scored the other two goals for the Rockets.
