Heritage Woods secondary school in Port Moody is the second high school SD43 to be linked to a COVID-19 exposure event.

A Port Moody high school has been flagged as the eighth school in the Tri-Cities to be hit with a COVID-19 exposure.

Heritage Woods secondary registered an exposure event Oct. 15, according to Fraser Health.

While this is the eighth school in School District 43 that has reported a COVID-19 exposure event, only Mundy Road and Glen elementary schools in Coquitlam remain on the Fraser Health list of ongoing investigations.

According to Fraser Health, a school “exposure” indicates a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection attended school during their infectious period. A school “cluster,” on the other hand, indicates possible school-based transmission with two or more lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 attending school while infectious. Finally, an “outbreak” at a school means “multiple individuals with lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection” and that “transmission is likely widespread.”
