Mounties are searching for a newer model pickup truck that struck a pedestrian last month in Coquitlam’s Austin Heights neighbourhood.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the corner of Austin Avenue and Nelson Street. Witnesses told investigators a black pickup truck stopped briefly after hitting the pedestrian but took off without leaving any identification or contact numbers.

“We are interested in hearing the driver’s version of this collision and we hope they will do the right thing and talk to us,” said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “We also encourage anyone who recognizes the truck to call us and help us get the full picture of what happened.”

The person who was hit suffered serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. 

Police described the vehicle as a shiny black, newer model extended or crew cab pickup with six-point, chrome wheels and fog lights.
