Police are asking the public for its help in finding Michelle Davidson, last seen in the 1300 block of Seymour Street, Vancouver, on June 23.

Coquitlam RCMP are searching for a young woman wanted on a warrant under the BC Mental Health Act.

Michelle Davidson was arrested in Coquitlam Tuesday, June 23, after police got a call about the woman involved in an unrelated incident.

When she got to the RCMP detachment, she requested she be transferred to the what’s known as Fraser Health’s Assertive Community Treatment staff, who were to transfer her to Covenant House in downtown Vancouver.

However, when they arrived at the 1300 block of Seymour Street, Davidson walked away from the Fraser Health team, who at the time, had no authority to stop her. She was last seen at around 8 p.m.

That’s when the Fraser Health team contacted Coquitlam RCMP so they could issue a warrant for her arrest under the BC Mental Health Act.

“Somewhere in between here and there they felt she needed help,” said Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Const. Deanne Law. “Something was a red flag for them.”

Law said the woman is not believed to be a threat to the public, and while RCMP would not elaborate on what charges Davidson had originally been arrested on, Law said it was nothing violent and they are concerned for her wellbeing.

Davidson is described as a 21-year-old Caucasian female, with long, brown hair and brown eyes. She is five feet four inches tall (163 centimetres) and 102 pounds (46 kilograms) and was last seen wearing an oversize yellow blouse, black running shoes with white soles and was carrying a green bag.

If you have information on Davidson’s whereabouts, Coquitlam RCMP is asking you to reach out at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2020-16285.
