Couple wins $500,000 in Coquitlam, splurges on Thanksgiving lobster dinner

Next on their wish list: a new SUV and a townhouse.

A couple who won $500,000 on a scratch and win ticket in Coquitlam went straight for a first-class seafood meal to celebrate their new-found fortune this Thanksgiving weekend.

Chin Kim and Junwhee Lim had bought a Chrome scratch and win ticket at Ridgemont Foods in Coquitlam, but didn’t realize they had won the game’s top prize until they arrived at their North Vancouver home.

“We are going to have a special dinner,” said Kim just before Thanksgiving. “I think I would like lobster.”

The next stop? A swing by a car dealership to pick up a new SUV, though the couple hasn’t decided the make or model yet.

“The dream that we would like to make a reality would be to buy our own home,” Kim said. “We would like a townhouse.”

The whole experience has left the couple in disbelief.

Or as Lim put it, “Unbelievable.”
