The sexual assault case against Port Moody’s mayor was adjourned today (Thursday) for another two weeks.

Special prosecutor Michael Klein asked the Port Coquitlam provincial court to move the case to Friday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.

Klein told the judge he has been speaking with Mayor Robert Vagramov’s lawyer, Ian Donaldson, and is “still trying to propose a resolution to this matter.”

Vagramov is charged with one count of sexual assault, alleged to have happened between April 1 and July 10, 2015. In March, during a news conference, he proclaimed his innocence.

Vagramov, who was elected to the top municipal job last October, initially took a paid leave of absence from his duties at city hall as of March 28 but, in late June, as council was about to discuss his remuneration, he announced he would no longer be collecting his annual $111,833 salary while the case is before the courts.
