An elderly woman was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries Thursday afternoon after a collision involving a bus in Port Coquitlam.
The incident occurred at Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. and police said the road could be closed for several hours. Drivers were urged to avoid the area.
“Early indications suggest the bus was making a turn from Shaughnessy onto Wilson at the time of the crash,” police said in a statement. “The driver is cooperating with the investigation. There is no indication that speed or impairment are factors.”
The woman was crossing the road at the time of the incident.
Mounties said the road was closed in all directions so paramedics could help her and so police could complete their investigation.
