‘Firearm-related incident’ closes down Port Coquitlam street

Wednesday evening, police were called to Prairie Avenue between Fremont Street and Burns Road in Port Coquitlam

One man was arrested in what the Coquitlam RCMP is calling a “firearm-related incident” Wednesday night in Port Coquitlam.

Police were on the scene at approximately 8 p.m. and shut down Prairie Avenue between Fremont Street and Burns Road. By 11:30 p.m., the road had re-opened but a police presence remained at a home, where Mounties said they were continuing to conduct an investigation.

“One male was successfully taken into custody,” police said in a statement late Wednesday. “The investigation is continuing and no further details can be released at this time.”
