Gas prices started taking a dive after a dispute over production between Saudi Arabia and Russia rippled across the globe. The price drop here in the Tri-Cities also comes as the COVID-19 pandemic puts pressure on the global economy.

Gas prices continue to plummet around the globe, offering a small break to an otherwise stressed workforce.

And while here the Tri-Cities, the price of regular gas isn’t the cheapest in the Lower Mainland, it has hit some remarkable lows recently.

As of noon Friday, March 27, the website gasbuddy.com reported the Port Coquitlam Costco branch was selling gas at 93.9 cents per litre, the lowest in the Tri-Cities.

Other gas stations below a dollar include the Esso at 2640 Austin Ave. in Coquitlam (99.9 cents) as well as the Chevron at 2525 Shaughnessy St. in Port Coquitlam and the Mobil gas station at 3000 Lougheed Hwy. in Coquitlam — both selling regular gas at 97.5 cents per litre.

Gas stations in Port Moody remain above the dollar-per-litre mark, according to the website.
