Home Depot is planning to add 50 associates positions in Coquitlam this spring, including cashiers, overnight freight, as well as roles in the company’s lot and garden centres.

The jobs are part of a wave of 940 hires across British Columbia and 5,500 across the country.

This comes at a time when Rona—one of Home Depot’s major competitors—has shut down several of its Canadian locations as it restructures under the Lowe’s brand. A total of 31 stores owned by Lowe’s have shut down across Canada in the last few months, including one B.C. location in New Westminster.

“We know convenience is key when applying for a job,” said Aliana Rozenek, the company’s vice-president, human resources, communications and sustainability, in a news release. “This spring our new Text-To-Apply will make it easier than ever for people with a passion for delivering an excellent customer experience to join our values-driven team.”

The company says “simply” text “Home Depot Jobs” to 97211 to apply. Interested candidates can also apply online or view roles and upcoming job fairs at www.homedepot.ca/jobs .

Home Depot is the largest home improvement centre in the world with over 2,000 locations across Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
