Belcarra Mayor Neil Belenkie was serving with the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department when he remembers the village ran out of water while crews battled a house fire. He recently told the Tri-City News he fears a house fire in his community could quickly spread into the forest and start a wildfire.

Re. "'We are a ticking time bomb,'" (The Tri-City News, July 2)

I thought Belcarra was a sort of a property tax safe haven for those affluent enough to live there. To pay nothing in and then complain about the lack of infrastructure seems a bit unfair. The residents of Belcarra should open up their fat wallets and take care of themselves like the rest of us do. I could be wrong but a follow up story to clear up Belcarra tax structure would be helpful.
