A chili prepared by the Coquitlam Mounties will be up against the Port Coquitlam firefighters’ version for a fundraiser Thursday at the Port Coquitlam Farmers Market.
The smoke-eaters are the defending champions in the second annual chili cook-off to raise money for the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program, which offers market coupons to lower-income families, pregnant women and seniors.
For $2, the public can sample both the RCMP and firefighters’ chilis, then vote for the best; the tasting opens at 3:30 p.m. and the results will be announced at 6 p.m.
Run by the Haney Farmers Market Society, the PoCo Farmers Market takes place on Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. in Leigh Square Community Arts Village (next to city hall).
