Opinion: Someone sabotaged a Port Coquitlam park with needles

“What is wrong with people?” I’m wondering the same thing after reading a Facebook post about someone sabotaging a Port Coquitlam park.

“What is wrong with people?”

I’m wondering the same thing after reading a Facebook post about someone sabotaging a Port Coquitlam park.

A local resident posted photos of a piece of fruit with “needles poking out of it hanging from a bush at knee height.”

The needles were found in Gates Park and this resident is working to spread the word to other parks users.

“Watch out for yourselves, animals and the sick person who is planting the harmful food,” he wrote.

This park is hardly the first one to get sabotaged. I’ve received many photos and comments over the years from people around Metro Vancouver finding these kinds of treats.

It’s always assumed that dogs are being targeted, but I think it could also be other types of wildlife that this bizarre behaviour is aimed at. Such as deer or raccoons or coyotes.

I’d hate to think that children are being targeted.
