Port Coquitlam break-in bump prompts police warning

The Dominion Triangle is the latest neighbourhood to see an increase in thefts from automobiles and businesses
Police advise that residents in the area be vigilant and make sure their cars are locked up and no valuables, like briefcases, backpacks and purses, are left unattended in a vehicle.

Coquitlam RCMP is alerting residents of an uptick in break-ins to businesses and automobiles in Port Coquitlam's Dominion Triangle.

Mounties said the hotspot is located in an area bounded by Ottawa Street, Burns Road, Riverwood Gate and Lougheed Highway. Police advise residents in the area to be vigilant and make sure their cars are locked and that no valuables, such briefcases, backpacks and purses, are left unattended in a vehicle.

Business owners should train employees to recognize suspicious and criminal activity, and to respond safely, Mounties said in a press release.

Coquitlam RCMP is urging area residents to call 604-945-1550 to report suspicious activity and 911 to report a crime in progress.

"The information you provide to us, no matter how minor it seems to be, is very valuable and we need your help to keep our community safe," the RCMP said in the release.
