The McDonald's at 2725 Barnet Highway in Coquitlam reported a worker has tested positive for the coronavirus

A worker at the McDonald’s off Barnet Highway in Coquitlam has tested positive for COVID-19, triggering a shutdown of the fast food location.

The employee at the 2725 Barnet Highway location reported they had tested positive for the coronavirus Nov. 23, and worked their last shift on Nov. 18 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

All staff who are thought to have been in close contact with the worker have been asked to self-isolate, according to a spokesperson for the company.

Any customer who visited the restaurant at that time is asked to follow directions from public health. Should you exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, health officials recommend you get tested at one of the region’s collection centres.

This is the second Coquitlam McDonald’s to have at least one worker test positive for the coronavirus in the last month following a similar case at the chain's Austin Avenue location last month.

Like thousands of dining establishments across the province, the fast-food chain has implemented a number of health and safety measures, including access to hand sanitizer dispensers, regular sanitization of high-touch points, floor markers to help maintain physical distance and protective screens at the front counters, among other changes.
