Where do you go when you need sh** for a dollar?

Loboy Market, apparently.

The shop, which sells salvaged and discounted goods, has a sign that caught the eye of people on social media last week, and we decided to investigate.

Mike Cottrell, co-owner and self-described "janitor" of Loboy ("it's the highest position in the company after CEO," he jokes), says it came about when humour met a serious person.

"It was my dry sense of humour and an experienced lady who volunteers her time here," he says.

When the woman asked what to write on a box of "random nonsense," Cottrell made a snap decision.

"I said, 'That box of sh**?' and said, 'Put sh**, $1,'" he says. "And then she said, 'What about this?' And I said, 'More sh**, a buck for that too.'"

The woman took him literally and now Loboy Market sells sh**. What it is, is still a bit of a mystery.

"I don't know (what's in there); screws, some kind of random nonsense, whatever was in the box, and we just keep refilling the box with more random sh**," Cottrell says.

No one has complained, despite it being a sign that might cause a moment of surprise for some.

Co-owner Sue Bellavie pipes in from behind the counter, and points out the store is full of random items.

"We often have all sorts of fun, different items, so they end up being in a sh** pile (sometimes)," she says.

She notes a few years ago they had a casket, and while it took more than four years, they sold it.

Bellavie says they sell whatever turns up on the truck.

"Everything sells," Cottrell adds. "Here, you can get sh** for a buck."

"The price reflects the shitty items," Bellavie says. "There's no tax, anyways."
