This terrible fake licence plate has Coquitlam cops looking for couple

A 2005 Nissan Altima with a fake Alberta licence plate lost a wheel and crashed in January in Port Coquitlam; Coquitlam RCMP is looking for its occupants

Police are looking for a couple who left behind "one of the worst licence plate forgeries" the Coquitlam RCMP has ever seen after fleeing the scene of a single-vehicle collision last month.

The incident occurred Jan. 8 at 8:20 p.m. on the Mary Hill Bypass near Shaughnessy Street when a 2005 Nissan Altima with an Alberta plate lost a wheel and crashed.

When police arrived, the couple quickly left and their vehicle has been seized.

"At first blush, this licence plate is terribly funny, but there are serious consequences," said RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin in a press release. "People with forged plates are often driving with no insurance or their vehicles are not roadworthy, or both. That's both unsafe and unfair to other road users who follow the rules and pay their premiums."
