Two people in Coquitlam were arrested last week in connection with a larger firearms investigation being conducted across the Metro Vancouver by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

Police descended on a home in the 900-block of Quadling Street (in Maillardville, off Blue Mountain Street) last Wednesday, arresting a man and a woman who are expected to face weapons charges. CFSEU Sgt. Brenda Winpenny told The Tri-City News the arrests were part of a larger investigation taking place across the Lower Mainland.

"The address is subject to an ongoing firearms investigation," she said. "There were two people arrested. Those people have since been released pending the results of the investigation."

One of the people arrested was a resident of the home while a second was believed to be associated with the activity taking place in the residence, Winpenny said.

She would not say whether any firearms were seized and said it is too early to determine when the investigation will be complete.
