Music lessons and other arts programs will be starting up at Place des Arts in Coquitlam this fall, but with COVID-19 protocols in place.

Taking painting, drawing, music and dance classes is a fall and winter tradition for many Coquitlam families.

But this year programs at Place des Arts in Coquitlam will operate with strict COVID-19 protocols in place.

From wearing masks in common spaces to completing COVID-19 screening questionnaires, class participants will be doing things differently and they’ll only be allowed one parent or guardian to accompany them.

With Phase 3 of the B.C. governments restart well-underway, the staff at the Coquitlam arts centre have been working on a plan to open up classes safely.

Programs in music, dance and movement theatre arts, visual arts and literary arts will be available, some in-person and some online.

Students can sign up for visual and performing arts classes and private lessons that run from September to June and/or Fall session classes that run anywhere from five to eight weeks between the months of September and December.

Registration for September to June classes and private lessons begins Monday, Aug. 31. Registration for the Fall session classes begins Monday, Sept. 4.
