ATV crash in eastern Nova Scotia leaves one man dead, another injured

SOUTH MERLAND, N.S. — A 53-year-old man from eastern Nova Scotia has died in an ATV crash that left another man seriously injured. Guysborough County District RCMP say the collision took place Saturday evening in South Merland.

SOUTH MERLAND, N.S. — A 53-year-old man from eastern Nova Scotia has died in an ATV crash that left another man seriously injured.

Guysborough County District RCMP say the collision took place Saturday evening in South Merland.

Police say an ATV with two occupants was travelling north on a dirt road parallel to Highway 16 towards Upper Big Tracadie when it crashed and rolled over.

The man driving the ATV, a 62-year-old from Upper Big Tracadie, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in Antigonish by ambulance before being flown to Halifax for further care.

The ATV passenger, who police say was from Antigonish,  was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation is ongoing with assistance from Nova Scotia’s medical examiner.
