The Editor,

Re. "No trans. vote" (Opinion, The Tri-City News, May 22).

Great editorial but don't hold your breath. it has been obvious for years that the BC Liberals aren't interested in transit. The numerous changes in TransLink structure and the refusal of the Liberals to provide steady funding are proof.

Not that the NDP would have been any better. It is painfully obvious that the decision makers (politicians and business people) are transit-illiterate, unlike those in other countries, where major towns have great transit systems.

Perhaps Jeff Nagel, the Black Press and bclocalnews.com regional reporter whose articles on transit you frequently publish, could ask the premier, the B.C. transportation minister and TransLink board members what actual experience of rapid transit they have, not just in Vancouver but in Toronto, Montreal and other towns in several well-known countries.
