Council needs the directions

How ironic that on the day I received my tax notice from the city of Coquitlam, with a massive increase for municipal taxes, that I see our fearless leaders on council have decided we need to spend $50,000 on welcome signs.

I seem to recall an outcry a few years ago when they spent a similar inordinate amount of tax money on "Welcome to Coquitlam" signs, and justified it in the economic downturn by stating the money had already been budgeted. It doesn't appear that is the case this time, just Coun. Neal Nicholson, elected last year on a promise of accountability of spending at city hall, telling us we're all confused as to where we are in the Tri-Cities.

I think it is Coun. Nicholson and the rest of council that need direction. I, for one, won't require a sign to show me the way to the polling station at the next election.
