The Editor,
A recent letter to the editor about bicycles has prompted me to add my opinion.
While cycling is a great, healthy sport, I think it's time cyclists learned to ride within the dedicated cycle lanes. So many times, traffic has been held up by either cyclists riding two or even three abreast, or a single cyclist riding outside his lane.
Recently, I even saw a motorized bicycle travelling over 30 km/h on the sidewalk (the rider did not have a helmet). At one point, he had to swerve into the busy traffic to avoid colliding with a car exiting a drive way.
For safety's sake, please ride responsibly.
I think it would be better if cyclists rode facing oncoming traffic so they would see any impending danger and take appropriate action.
