EDITORIAL: Giving is an all-year proposition

The holiday season is a busy time for everyone - and it can be expensive, too, if you add up the cost of entertaining and gifts.

But for many, Christmas is more than a time to splurge. It's a chance to reflect on one's good fortune and to give back to charitable groups that do good works all year.

This is what Tri-City residents do when they buy one extra toy for the toy bank run by Share Family and Community Services, make a financial donation to Share or another charity, or drop in an extra can of food in the collection bin.

These contributions are important for the help they provide struggling families.

To those who gave this year, thank you. And those who forgot need not worry. Charitable donations are appreciated no matter what time of year they are made.
