For those who think the PST/HST/GST conversion April 1 is just a crazy alphabet soup game and not their problem, think again.

Alert business owners and consumers need to stay on top of this transition from the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) back to the Provincial Sales Tax (HST) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) if they want to make sure they get their exemptions, paperwork and regulations right.

The government has been in high-gear for the last month calling, emailing and sending out letters to business owners to make sure they are aware of the transition. But many haven't been heeding the warnings to make the switch and most consumers are probably still trying to figure out what's going on.

Nobody likes to pay taxes and the hassles involved with changing a tax are generally liked even less. Still, it makes sense to be informed and there are lots of avenues for finding how to make the transition. After all, 55% of British Columbians voted in a referendum to get rid of the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) and now it's time to find out how the change affects you.
