EDITORIAL: PNE tradition, and weather

The Pacific National Exhibition pulled out all the stops to put on a good show this year.

It kept admission affordable by dropping two days off the two-week stint and reducing ticket prices.

It added some hot-ticket performers to the Summer Night concert roster, enhanced other entertainment offerings and moved the Peking Acrobats to the Coliseum along with the popular Superdogs.

These changes refreshed a fair that was suffering from sagging attendance but there is nothing the PNE can do about the weather.

For as long as the PNE has been around, the opening day generally coincided with a switch to cooler, more fall-like temperatures.

But with so much going on, hopefully die-hard fairgoers, raincoats and umbrellas on their arms, won't let a little bad weather keep them away from a B.C. tradition.
