Santa Claus looked at the images from Metro Vancouver traffic webcams at his home computer up in the North Pole and couldn't believe what he was seeing:
An entire region blanketed in, oh, about an inch of snow, and traffic had come to a standstill. There were jackknifed semis on untolled bridges causing gridlock while vehicles flew by on the only tolled bridge until they met up with merging traffic from Coquitlam, New Westminster and Burnaby.
"What is wrong with these people?" he asked himself, a little less than jolly. "They have the latest weather technology, snow plows and sanding trucks, and, of course, snow tires, but the smallest amount of the white stuff sends them into a tizzy."
The old man shook with laughter and promised to keep clear of Metro Vancouver on Christmas Eve in case the craziness extended to the skies.
"Those jokers deserve what they get," Santa sighed as he put the finishing touches on plans for toy deliveries.
