How about a third crossing from Port Moody?

Re. "Belcarra lease expiry worries mayor" (The Tri-City News, March 15).

Metro Vancouver's regional growth strategy requires Port Moody's population to grow from almost 30,000 to about 45,000 over the next 25 years. While much of the new population will be housed in condo towers in Moody Centre, the huge Ioco industrial property is edging toward redevelopment.

The challenge for redeveloping Ioco is access. The existing road along the north shore of Moody Inlet is narrow, windy, congested and very expensive to upgrade. Other routes are circuitous.

Another alternative is to build a Third Narrows Crossing at Admiralty Park to provide access to Barnet Highway in Burnaby. Metro should retain control of Admiralty Point for this option.
