It's mayor who should apologize

The Editor,

Re. "Coun. owes apology" (Letters, The Tri-City News, Sept. 13).

Port Moody Coun. Rick Glumac hit the nail on the head when he called the motion by Mayor Mike Clay to remove building heights from the proposed official community plan a "cowardly approach."

"Cowardly" relates to the approach taken by the mayor and not the person. More importantly, I noted with interest that the letter writer is the executive vice-president of Flavelle Cedar Co., a prospective major developer on Port Moody's pristine waterfront, which has a vested interest in a developer-friendly OCP.

It is the mayor who should be apologizing to the residents for having made such an ill-advised motion in the first place and not Coun. Glumac.

People, wake up, show up and speak up. It is our official community plan.

Port Moody
