Columnist Andy Radia about sums it up: Get your mutts on a leash and get them off playing fields. Kids should not have to play in dog crap.

I am outspoken when I witness dogs defecating on fields, mainly at Thompson Park, where my kids play ball, and will approach anyone I see with a dog on the field. Owners' answers range from "F--- off and mind your own business" to "I know who you are" to "I pay taxes too." One idiot actually wanted to fist fight in front of my sons, who are eight and 12.

The city's standard answer is to do nothing. Bylaw enforcement is a joke. The city could make the fines $1,000 and it wouldn't matter.

The real answer in an it's-all-about-me world is for people to just do the right thing. Or maybe we should just play baseball on their front lawns.
