The Editor,

Re. “Another view on climate change and humans’ involvement in it” (Letters, The Tri-City News, Nov. 20).

After I became aware of the issue of global atmospheric warming, about 10 years ago, I realized that I was going through the five stages of a life crisis: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I think that letter-writer Martin Cregg-Guinan is on the same path.

Then I discovered at the library the amazing, slim book, What’s the Worst That Could Happen?, written by Greg Craven, a high school science teacher in Oregon. In it, Craven uses a decision-making diagram to settle on whom to believe on the debate over whether climate change is real or a hoax. At the end of his assessment, he accepts that climate change is real and that there is hope through action.
