LETTER: Lots of talk but little action on Burke Mt.

BURKE

The Editor,

Re. “No school, but a Burke park” (The Tri-City News, Nov. 25).

Having been a northeast Coquitlam resident on Gilley’s Trail since 1991, it is hard to be optimistic about either schools or public amenities on Burke Mountain.

We were told by elected officials starting in 1991 — almost 25 years ago — that our kids would attend school on Burke Mountain. They have all since graduated high school and ground is still not broken.

Sorry, new Burke Mountain residents. You are victims of ongoing rhetoric.

One more thing: The middle half (30 acres) of the Gilley’s Trail Park is still privately owned by multiple long-term residents.
